New Place to play
OK, we'll maybe it's just new to me. The Courts in the Pearl are open and ready for rentals. I don't see a drop
in night but I'd like to see something on Sundays or Thursdays. Honestly what could be better on first Thursdays
in the Pearl- Wine, Art and Volleball.

Cleaning out the Cob Webs
Trying to clean up this website and update all information. I've tried my best to clean up the
links and I'll focus on the Leagues and Tournaments in the next few days. It's a little like
walking into an old house you haven't visited in a while, everything is still there just trying
to remember where it's at.

Long time no see.. and no play 2
Oh dear lord, for some reason I came out of retirement a few months ago because I lost a little weight.
I realize now it was my ego, that thing was about 25lbs... who knew?
As I get round to some of the old stomping grounds again I'll try to give you an updated assessment
of the Open gyms. Right now the courts in Beaverton on Friday night are easily the best time
around. I've been to Marshall on a few night and this comes close due to the selective nature of the
staff. At Marshal Center in Vancouver not all players are selected to play on the top court so this does lead to very competitive play. I was also asked to play on a league there and was very impressed with the level of competition.
Don't be a stranger, if you see me out there and dont recognize me because I'm getting roofed or worse yet limping around please say hi.

Long time no see.. and no play
I don't play as much as used to.. hell I don't play at all lately so here's all the news that's
fit to print.
Portland Metro Christian Volleyball league has a new website. Anybody here knows volleyball in this
area has come to know this as the most competitive league in the city and in my opinion the best
run. The new URL is http://www.leaguelineup.com/pmcva
Great info here from players on open gyms lately.
This from George..
By the way, I went to the Firstenburg Community center in Vancouver.
The open court (both power and rec ball) happens on Monday nite at
7:45 PM lasting until 10:00 PM............ and yes, you were right
the power volleyball players are not gutsy enough to kick the less
experienced players off the "A" court so there are essentially two
courts of rec ball. Very sad to a person looking for a good game of
advanced ball.
This from Heather.. I'm new to Portland, so I took the list of what you said would be open
on Monday nights and called the gyms. Here are my findings:
Fulton: 10 people with more expected with the fall
East Portland: 5 players came last night. More expected in fall.
Mt Scott: 24 people came on 2 nets. However, the gym is closing the
next two weeks for remodeling, so staff predict that players will
move over to East Portland during this period.
St Johns: No volleyball scheduled.
Heather
Thx Heather I'll update the site.
Anybody up for some Texas Hold'em and some VB.
La Center is hosting an open gym onSundays.
I'm starting an open court power volleyball session to coincide with school
seasons at La Center Middle School just south of La Center on Lockwood Creek
Road. Our first open court will be Sunday, September 17th. Contact number
is 360 263 2015. With the local talent and some outside talent, the level
of play is expected to be about that of the Mount Scott Sunday afternoon
power Volleyball side (without the infiltration of the less talented players
from the recreational court. If you have played at Mount Scott, you know what
I'm talking about. For some reason, the players on the "A" court don't seem
to have the pluck to ask the rec players from the "B" court to go back to the
"B" court when they start migrating over to the "A" court). There are two
courts. The fee is $1.00 an hour with a $1.00 per night contribution for new
balls. I would appreciate your posting of this latest volleyball venue.

This from the courts
Hi Mark,
We have just scheduled some weekend days for volleyball tournaments
here at The Courts in Beaverton. We will be holding 3 different
coed 6's tournaments. The dates for these are October 1st, October
29th, and November 12th.We have also scheduled in two dates for Coed
4's tournaments. They will be held on October 15th and November 11th.
Another day that people may want to keep in mind is the Friday after
Thanksgiving, November 24th, as we will be holding another Turkey
Draw Volleyball Tournament. This is a good chance for people to
come have some fun while working off their big holiday meal.Attached
are the flyers for each of these tournaments in a pdf file. If
you could get some of the information up on your website that
would be great.
Let me know if you have any questions about anything.
Thanks for your help,
