I am in no way associated with any of these tournaments other than the fact that I have played in some and know the people runnning them. All information on this site should not be viewed as fact until you call the Organization responsible. If any info is wrong please email me and not the Tournament Director or Organization, and as always don't be an idiot... Call ahead before you go!!!!!!

The Best Outdoor Tournaments in the Northwest
These are some of the better tourney's around. They might NOT draw the most people but you'll have a good time.

Bad Boys Open (Sherwood Police Fundraiser) - Sherwood, Oregon
Could be the only chance you have to beat a cop (at volleyball).
Surface: Grass
Site: Sherwood high School.
Format: Men's and Women's 2's on Saturday and Reverse Coed on Sunday with 3 ability levels (Open, A, and Novice). Pool play in the morning and bracket play in the afternoon.
Date: Supposed to be a week before the June opener  in 2002
Cost: As I remember fairly cheap ($30 per team $40 day of) and even cheaper if you supply an outdoor net.
Official Website: None
Contact info: griffinm@ci.sherwood.or.us
Comments: A Well run tournament for a great cause that has potential to grow. I highly recomment this tournament even thought the draw from year to year isn't as consistent as it should be.
Lakefair - Olympia, Washington
Ever wanted to play on the Lawn of Washington's state capitol
Surface: Grass
Site: The lawn of the state capital.
Format: Men's and Women's 2's on Saturday and Reverse Coed on Sunday with 4 ability levels (Open, A, Novice, and 'Park and Rec'). Pool play in the morning and bracket play in the afternoon. Some divisions are split up, for example, open was split up last year into an upper and lower.
Date: Generally the middle of July, it's centered around a community event called Lakefair
Cost: As I remember fairly cheap ($30 per team $40 day of) and even cheaper if you supply an outdoor net.
Official Website: LakeFair Volleyball tourney

Comments: Last year the tournement was on the lawn of the state capital and a parade went right by. Unlike alot of Oregon Tournaments this one consistently gets a good draw of teams for all Divisions every year. The Location is perfect as well .. right between Seattle and Portland. Register early, this has been known to fill rather quickly, and don't be afraid to email the Tournament director for Details. I've been told this will remain at the state capital.
Seaside I - Seaside, Oregon
Just the king of all Volleyball tournaments in the northwest
Surface: Sand.
Site: Beaches of Seaside Oregon.
Format: You name it they probably have it. Men's, Women's, and Coed 2's on Friday and Saturday. Men's and Womens' 4's on Sunday. NO POOL PLAY ON EITHER DAY just straight double elimination.
Date: Around the second week in August
Cost:$45 early & $55 if past the deadline.
Official Website:http://www.seasidebeachvolleyball.com
Comments: Pretty damn pricey for just straight double elimination but this is the biggest tourney in the Northwest. This has grown to be a huge three day party with big sponsers starting.
June opener - Vancouver, Washington
Gut bomb burgers come with the entry fee, can't pass that up
Surface: Grass
Site: ? David Douglas Park in Vancouver.. but it could be moved
Format: Men's and Women's doubles
Date: June 30, 2001
Cost: $35 ( could change)
Official Website:http://www.pacnova.com/
Comments: Has fallen off in recent years, because of competition up north (Seattle) and trendiness of the sport, but make no mistake this is a fairly big money tournament ( generally about $500 for first) so some of the better players always make the trip.
4th of July - Vancouver, Washington
More gut bomb burgers and one of the biggest Rev. Coed tourney's in the Northwest.
Surface: Grass
Site: Used to be across the street from Clark College but starting in 2002 it will in the new grass park at Vancouver Lake
Format: Reverse Coed 2's. Pool play and single elimination for Novice and A. Straight Double elimation for Open, no pool play.
Date: duh. July 4th everry year.
Cost: $35 for A and Novice. $45 for open. $10 late fee for day of tournament registration.
Official Website:http://www.pacnova.com/
Comments:
Wenatchee - Wenatchee, Washington
A well established tournament in North central washington that has been a well attended over the years and known for good parties
Surface: Grass
Site: Wenatchee, Washington
Format: Men's and Women's 2's on Saturday and Rev. Coed 2's on Sunday.
Date: Around the end of May
Cost:
Official Website: http://www.volleyballnw.com/
Comments: Quite the drive if you live in Portland but worth the trip if you live Seattle.
Volleyfest - Greenlake Park Seattle,Washington
Gorgeous setting for a volleyball tournament and a nice Park right in Seattle.
Surface: Grass
Site: Seattle, Washington
Format: Men's and Women's 2's on Saturday and Rev. Coed 4s on Saturday also.
Date:July 28, 2001
Cost:
Official Website: http://www.volleyballnw.com/
Comments: Beautiful park right on the Lake in North Seattle. 2 Tournaments will be held here in 2003 and I would recommend checking both out, They are Volleyfest and a 2 day Labor day Tournament
Alki Beach Sand Series
They really don't have a marquee tournament ( although the tourney before Seaside has a good turnout).

Surface: Sand (mostly doubles)
Site: Alki Beach Seattle, Washington
Format: mostly 2's although usually they mix in a 4's
Date: all summer
Cost: $30?
Official Website: http://www.usavolleyball.com/
Comments: Run by alot the Diehard Sand players in seattle.

Wok's up Sand Series
Finally a Local Sand Series that we can hang our hat on and gets a good draw of teams in a great atmosphere.

Surface: Sand (mostly doubles)
Site: Wok's up, Gresham, OR
Format: Mostly 2's but check thier website for more info.
Date: all summer
Cost: $30?
Official Website: Wok's Up Restaurant
Comments: It's a Restaurant and Bar in Gresham with 4 Sand Courts. Usually by the end of the tourney there's quite the party going and Darin (Bartender, Master of Ceremonies)delivers all your favorite drinks right out on the courts. If you are looking for highly competitive play they sponser "AVP Next Series" Tournament that usually draws some good talent from up north.
